    dress - (continued)
  • Darker clothing tends to minimize body size whereas light tones emphasize body size
  • Necklines: A vee or scoop neck is best if your neck is short and your face is full whereas a turtle neck is more flattering if your neck is longer
  • Medium to dark clothes work best for formal / dark backgrounds
  • Medium to light clothes work best for light or high key backgrounds
  • Earth tones and khakis that blend with the environment work best outdoors
  • Select clothing that is timeless and won't date your image in the years to come
  • Remember to coordinate your attire from head to toe
  • It is important that your clothes are neatly pressed since wrinkles cannot be removed
  • When coordinating groups, the clothing doesn't have to be identical but colors and values of tone should be harmonious: blending with each subject's attire and the background
  • If you know where you will be displaying the image, it might be helpful to lay out the clothing in the room itself to see if anything clashes with your decor
